About Christ The King Convent School Pathankot
Christ the King was born at Bethlehem in the year 4 BC during the reign of Emperor Caesar. He was God’s Word made flesh to dwell among men, by a special divine intervention. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and was born to Virgin Mary and Joseph, his legal father. He was called the ‘Christ ‘ as he was anointed by God. The word ‘Christ ‘ comes from the Greek word ‘Christos’ which means ‘The anointed one of God’. After His baptism at the River Jordan, Jesus began his ministry of teaching people the true religion, the religion of divine compassion and mercy, and went around healing people both physically and spiritually. His open challenge to the unjust socio-politico-religious order of the time was met with strong resistance and resulted in His supreme sacrificial death on the cross in the year 33 AD. The Gospels in the Bible speak of Christ as the King (Mathew 2:2; Mark 15:2; John 19:12). He is king because He defeated the darkness of sin and its result, death, by his sacrificial death on the cross at Calvary and His resurrection on the third day after His death. He gave new life and a new hope to all the people. He reigns over the heart of all men and women by His love and compassion. The feast of Christ the King is celebrated on the last Sunday of November every year. He is the heavenly patron of Christ the King Convent School.
